If you use a daily shower cleaner you know how costly they can be.  We have finished off the last of our daily shower cleaner so I thought I'd try out this homemade shower cleaner. 

Clean Shower

2 cups vinegar

1 tsp. liquid dish soap

1/2 cup rinse agent (like jet dry)

Mix all ingredients in a spray bottle.

I found myself completely out of scouring powder today and thought I'd take the opportunity to whip up a simple homemade scouring powder ~ flexing my eco ~ frugal muscles.

First I took equal parts of Borax, salt and baking soda and mixed them together.

Impressed?  Me either .  .  .  it all washed away nicely leaving none of the chalking coating that is left over after using Ajax or Comet ~ but I don't think we could call this sink 'properly scoured' can we?  I had such high hopes ~ sigh.   

I've been mad about all things frugal lately.  The down turn in our economy hitting home with my dh's work challenges along with rising food and gas costs has led me into heretofore unknown territory ~ frugality.  I know I'm not alone.  My journey into frugality influenced by my eco-friendly preferences has lead me to homemade cleaning products.  So simple and inexpensive!  So far I have made this all-purpose cleaner which is wonderful.

Ingredients

• 1 cup white vinegar
• 1 cup rubbing alcohol
• 3 cups water

Combine ingredients and pour into spray bottle.  Spray surface and wipe.  You'll want to give the bottle a bit of a shake before each use.  (The vinegar works as a disinfectant.)

I have also discovered microfiber cloths for wiping down glass and mirrors ~ they make an amazing difference ~ and you don't have to use so many paper towels!

Did you know if you put a dry towel in with a wet load of clothes into the dryer it will dry 30% faster?

I'm going to have to check this out ~ our dryer is Awful !
