We have been listening to the original Beethoven's Wig for just over a year now.  I would play it in the car and Rose Red would follow it intently (as she will do for most things).  She gets a kick out of it and will dance and sing the lyrics written for these symphonies often.  This week she began putting in her (without lyrics) children's classical music cd's (much to my dismay and amazement she has taken to always doing this herself ~ even spitting on the back of the cd and wiping it dry on her shirt before placing it in the player  ~ a (ahem!) bad habit of mine I'm trying to break).  As she kicks back on the couch to enjoy her tunes she begins to recognize the symphonies and gets very excited.  What's this one!  I know this one!  What's this one called!  she cries out and wants names (I give her the Composers) of each of the pieces.  Even without the lyrics she is recognizing and enjoying the symphonies.  Vivaldi she knew right off without asking (I have a preference for the Baroque).  This is so much fun!  I am loving these Beethoven's Wig cd's. 

From trash to treasure . . .

How to spend an outdoor afternoon tea with your 2 1/2 year old ~ Turn up the Baroque Festival loudly so all the neighbors can be enriched, break off a chunk of the good chocolate, brew yourself a cup of green tea and bounce around the backyard with your cup of tea playing kickball with your daughter.  Amazingly uplifting !  I recommend it.

We have been listening to this CD  a lot lately at our home.  It came with a resource book with all the words and music for the songs.  The set is titled 'This is the Way We Wash-a-Day'  ~ "inspiration for work and play to sing throughout the day".  Rose Red loves it and the musician's voice is so lovely even my husband likes to listen to it!  It is filled with all those classic great songs for singing while taking care of your duties around the home.

I have  a prejudice for fine quality musical instruments for children ~ and have probably indulged too much of  our budget to see that the instruments we have collected for Rose Red are real instruments rather than toys.  Rose Red loves music and enjoys playing this particularly lovely instrument often.  It produces such wonderful sounds I'm happy to encourage her to play it ~ and even to dabble with it myself!  It is a Swedish instrument called a Diatonic Glockenspiel.  It is gorgeously, beautifully made ~ which is always another plus in my book.

                                               We are finally home from our adoption journey!  It is so wonderful to be home!  We are loving every minute with our new daughter and are happy to report that her big brothers just adore her!                                                                          Rose Red and I have been starting our day with a Morning Music Hour.  We have begun with Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons' (one of my favorites).   Rose Red is working on her puzzle of musical instruments in this picture while we listen.  I think I'd like to just immerse her in the arts and language during these first years.

The toyshelf was made by my father.  Isn't it gorgeous?  It is a perfect montessori infant toy shelf.
